This site is not a scam, but you should avoid working for them.
Pros: you can earn a bit of money
Cons:
You work for cents. This isn't really a problem since the tasks are often easy, but it get frustrating quickly.
There are A LOT of unfair corrections and unfair flags that take ages to be removed. If you get flagged (it's mostly an automated system) you will lose your badge and part of your accuracy.
I was reading their twitter account and other websites and, in my opinion, the reviews seem a little too positive.
Every single contributor must have experienced at least one of their unfair corrections/flags. That's why I think some of the reviews could be fake (even because they often say the same thing over and over).
My advice? We should stop working for them all at once because we are not protected. Our work isn't appreciated and while we, as I said before, work for cents, their fee is minimum 1500$/mo. And it's all based on our work. Of course I know this is utopian.
CF should remove the flag system because it's useless and it doesn't give a real understanding of the problem. We don't know why we get flagged and (assuming the flag is fair) we don't know how to get better. I think they just gave authors (who pay the fee) a sop. It should be a quality control feature, but it's not.
CF support is also terrible and unprofessional. I sent a lot of tickets for unfair jobs, but after months I didn't get my accuracy back or get a response saying "we agree with the author". Sometimes it also happened that their replies were extremely rude.
I was gathering resources/knowledge to open my own business and, before working for them, I would have taken into consideration to use their service. After this experience I can only say that I will boycott them and hope somebody else will understand how bad this company treat their "workers".
Again: they are not a scam. They pay, but the frustration is too much.
