Golem seeks to create a supercomputer using the unused computing power of all the computers connected to its network, from the simple laptop to the datacenter. This system can handle tasks that require enormous power (such as Computer Generated Imagery (CGI), scientific research, market predictions, big data analysis ...) at a low cost.
The payment of this service to those who make available their computing power is in GNT, the currency of Golem, based on the Ethereum. This currency, like many other cryptomonies, can then be bought and sold on your favorite platform.
The project has been in an alpha version since August 2016 and is currently only compiling CGI. The team is currently raising funds by crowdfunding to develop the project.
